The jewellers H Samuel started in 1862 when Harriet Samuel took over her father-in-law's clock-making business in Liverpool and moved the business to Manchester to run the mail order side while her son developed the retail area. The first retail store opened in Preston in 1890 quickly followed by branches in Rochdale and throughout Lancashire. It remained a family business with Harriet’s grandsons joining the company after the war until the number of stores rose to over 200 throughout the UK. In 1984 they acquired the James Walker Group which doubled their outlets.
Today H Samuel has almost 400 stores nationwide and is part of the Signet Group plc which the world's largest specialist jeweller. They have an extensive internet site at www.hsamuel.co.uk where you can access several catalogues of high quality diamond, gold and silver jewellery, watches and gifts to make your selection from.
When you order goods online you are entitled to a cooling off period of 30 days when you can return the goods without incurring a penalty. Certain items like personalised or engraved items and pierced jewellery are excluded from this cooling off period guarantee.
